Earlier this month, Shannon and I headed to CES 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, courtesy of the 3M team. While I’ve attended CES many times, this was my wife’s second time attending this huge conference. During this trip, we stayed in the gorgeous Mandalay Bay Hotel, courtesy of the 3M team. We’d never stayed there before, but it was a great experience!

The next morning, we met the 3M team and a group of bloggers for a trends breakfast with Wired Magazine. The other bloggers in attendance (other than myself and my wife – The Mommy-Files) were Slap Dash Mom, Mommies with Cents and Simply Southern Mom. After meeting together, we headed over to the Venetian Hotel to check out the 3M booth. Since the line was super long for the taxi service, we jumped into an SUV Stretch Limo and headed to Venetian Hotel. It was definitely an interesting experience!

At CES 2017, 3M Company introduced a new wearable technology, including an app that offers insights into breathing challenges. This innovative new wearable technology is intended to monitor and potentially help predict and improve the quality of breathing for consumers suffering from asthma or allergies.

When we arrived at the 3M booth, I introduced myself to the team members and they encouraged me to take a survey about the new wearable technology. While there, I also learned more about the wearable technology, and take a video of the 3M booth. We also learned that the device will be released in summer 2017.

More about the new 3M Respiratory Tracking Solution

We’re looking forward to the release of the 3M wearable technology! It seems really helpful if you have family members with allergies or asthma, but can also be useful to anyone wanting to take a closer look at their breathing patterns and the conditions around them (such as weather, pollen and more)! We bloggers were able to meet with the development team behind this device, and we had a pretty good discussion about the product. It was great to learn more about it, and give the development team some of our feedback on the new wearable technology. I’m looking forward to seeing the final product!

The new technology, developed by 3M Company, monitors respiratory patterns, detects changes in breathing and provides information on whether environmental factors play a role in the user’s breathing difficulties. Through personalized insights and unique coaching, this device will be able to enhance monitoring for easier and better breathing, with real-time data, analysis, alerts and breath tracking in any environment.

Did you know that approximately 24 million Americans have asthma and an estimated 50 million are affected by nasal allergies, underscoring the overwhelming number of individuals in need of relief from respiratory problems? The new wearable technology will offer coaching and education to enable people to take greater control of their breathing health during daily activities. With cutting edge machine learning algorithms, the app and wearable will convert information into personalized, actionable insights for the user.

“With a large portion of the population facing respiratory issues, an understanding of triggers and sensitivities can help with management and prevent the onset of attacks,” said Silvia Perez, President of Drug Delivery Systems Division, 3M. “This new innovation will provide data around various environmental factors that typically cause flare-ups to provide unique insight into one’s breathing and respiratory challenges.”
