Summary:

James Wan is proving to be an unstoppable force in the chiller movie genre. Coming off another excellent release with "The Conjuring," the followup to the original Insidious, Insidious Chapter 2 has all of the thrills, chills, and creepiness to keep your date snuggly and close all night.

“No Spoilers” – Insidious Chapter 2 is the perfect followup to what I thought was a great Chiller, Insidious 1. There were two very separate sides of reviews for the first film, some really enjoying it and others on the opposite side. I myself enjoy a spooky movie that has a lot of build up and character explanation with a great payoff at the end, though others who may not enjoy director James Wan’s style, may be disappointed in the gradual build up of both movies.

Shannon and I went on a date night to see the 2nd chapter of Insidious. We were both excited to see this film and had been anticipating its release for sometime. In preparation, we watched the first film again and I’m so glad we did. Chapter 2 is a great title for the film as it is a seamless continuation of the first film.

The original cast is back and provides the same intense feelings you get in the first chapter. As James Wan has proven in both films, as well as The Conjuring, gore is not necessary to create a great paranormal thriller. The jump factor, eerie characters, spooky locations, and camera angles make for a great film, especially just before Halloween.

The movie is rated PG-13 and is definitely not for kids due to some language, intense moments, and spooky scenes. Teens will enjoy the scare factor, though the storyline may be too slow to keep their attention.

Insidious Chapter 2 was an enjoyable date night and I would highly recommend checking it out if you like the genre. If you have not yet seen Insidious 1check it out, and if you like it, head out and see the second chapter on the big screen.

  1. This was definitely a great movie and I know I screamed and jumped at least a few times. 🙂 Definitely one to see and to watch Insidious 1 beforehand.
